Since March 2025, the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite mission has been operational with three active platforms. In this configuration, Sentinel-2A—with reduced spatial and temporal coverage—complements the base constellation consisting of Sentinel-2B and -2C. Our researcher Katarzyna Ewa Lewińska has investigated to which extent Sentinel-2A expands the mission’s usable data pool. This storymap highlights the added value of Sentinel-2A globally, by continent, by orbital overlap, and by biogeographic region in Europe, as well as its contribution to vegetation monitoring.
